Embuzi is a Luganda word that means a Goat. Used in the noun form it means a goat while in unofficial language among especially the youth the term Embuzi might actually mean someone who is stupid or one with little intellect.
Among the Baganda, the term Embuzi can also be used to refer to virginity among females. Someone (a girl) is said to possess “embuzi” if they are still virgins.
This is derived from an ancient Baganda practice where the auntie of a virgin girl would be given a goat by the girls husband as a thank you for keeping the girl pure to her wedding night.
