So Who is Naomi Judd? Naomi Judd was an American singer and actress. She and her daughter Wynonna formed the country music duo the Judds in 1983. They were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2021.
Naomi Judd was born on January 11th 1946 in Ashland, Kentucky, United States to Pauline Judd and Charles Glen Judd.
Judd was married to Michael C. Ciminella in 1964 but the two later divorced in 1972. The couple had two daughters Christina Ciminella and Actress Ashley Judd. Christina Ciminella later changed names to Wynonna Judd. After the divorce, Naomi raised both daughters as a single mother.
In May 1989, Naomi Judd was married again to Palmetto State Quartet singer Larry Strickland. After her last tour, Judd developed depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and suicidal thoughts.
She was treated with lithium, which produced side effects like alopecia, edema, and tremors. On April 30, 2022, Naomi Judd died near Nashville, Tennessee, aged 76.

After a long health struggle, Naomi succumbed to mental illness triggered by Hepatitis C on April 30th 2022 aged 76.
Naomi was open about her health struggles, as well as severe depression and anxiety. In her memoir, “River of Time,” she described her diagnosis of Hepatitis C, which she said she unknowingly contracted during her time as a nurse.
The Confusion about Naomi Judd’s Death.
Because of the shared name Judd by both mother and her two daughters, many people thought one of the Judd sisters was dead. On the contrally, its actually their mother, Country singer, Naomi Judd, who died. Her daughters, Wynonna and Ashley, announced her death on Saturday 30 April 2022. In a statement to the Press, they said, “Today we sisters experienced a tragedy. We lost our beautiful mother to the disease of mental illness.”
Naomi Judds last performance
In early April 2022, the Judds reunited to give their first awards-show performance in two decades. They sang the timeless ballad “Love Can Build a Bridge” at the 2022 CMT Music Awards. That perfomance marked their last performance together as Naomi died the same month at the age of 76.
