Who Is Richard Ssemakookiro

Richard Ssemakookiro is a prince in Buganda kingdom and the son of incumbent Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi and unofficial wife (mistress) Rose Nansikombi.

Ssemakookiro is the youngest child of the Kabaka of Buganda as of June 2020.

He is the second son of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi. The other son and Ssemakookiro’s stepbrother is Crispin Jjunju Kiweewa.

Ssemakookiro was named after his great grandfather, the late, Ssekabaka Semakookiro Wasajja Nabbunga. Wasajja was the son of Kabaka Kyabaggu Kabinuli. Wasajja was the Kabaka of Buganda between 1797 – 1814 when he died. He is remembered to have had 15 official wives.



Ssemakookiro was officially and introduced to the kingdom subjects on 8th October 2015 by the Katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga.

He was baptized on August 21, 2017 at a private church service at St. Paul’s Cathedral Namirembe during which stepsister Princess Sarah Katrina Ssangalyambogo was confirmed.

Ssemakookiro was baptized by Bishop Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira with assistance from Can. Benon Kityo and Vicar Festo Kalungi.

Semakokiro’s Mother, Rose Nansikombi has never appeared before media and we have no picture of her on file.

Media reports that Nansikombi is a daughter of elder Ssalongo George Edward Sserebe and Nnaalongo Christine Nalubanjwa, of Nswanta village, Bamunanika county in Luweero district.
