Born Ivan David Rukasi Kugonza, Anko Dee hails from Masindi even though he grew up in Kansanga and later Kyambogo.

Anko Dee joined media at Magic Fm a UBC state-owned English radio station in Kampala as a show host. He later moved to Mbarara to join 91.2 Crooze Fm before returning to Kampala with KFm.
